Day 4

Posted on 19 March 202019 March 2020

Wednesday 18th March

For my online class this morning, the trainer used 1.5 litre bottles of water as dumbbells and to fill a rucksack to add weight to the exercises. Of course, I only have the huge 8 litre bottles of water, so I used 1 litre brik cartons of milk instead. That was fun! My milk dumbbells were almost impossible to hold , not just because of the square shape nut because they kept squishing between my hands! I honestly thought the cartons were going to burst open and shower me with milk! The cartons in the rucksack were just as bad; I might as well have been trying to lift a bag of baby kittens because that rucksack was all over the place!

Note to self to get some 1.5l bottles of water next time I go to the shop. And I’m going to have to nip out to a shop soon, I’ve just been putting it off because I don’t want the hassle of waiting outside and trying to keep my distance from other people who don’t give a damn. I will check out the supermarket on the corner in the morning though, when I treat myself to a run down to the bin with the rubbish.

I read in the Spanish press this evening that fines for driving with more than one person (the driver) in the car during the state of emergency are between €300 and €1000! It’s going to be really tough for people who don’t drive or couples where one drives but it’s the other who takes charge of the shopping. So much of the freedom that we all take for granted has just been snatched away in an instant and locked in quarantine.

So we’re keeping our spirits up with jokes and memes. How else do we cope with difficult situations but by taking the piss out of them! Here are a few of my favourites:

That’s all you’re getting for now but there are plenty more where those came from. It also looks like we’ll be here at home sharing jokes and memes for a long time yet…
