Friday 27th March
My video is coming together really nicely! I actually fell asleep on the sofa while reviewing it (that means watching it over and over again!) hence writing at my computer four in the morning.
To my great frustration, at some point last night the YouTube app on my Apple TV stopped playing videos, showing only a generic error to try again later. It’s refusing even to play my own fan videos. Before and after my online workout this morning, I spent several hours trying to resolve the problem, assuming it was my own Apple TV box that was playing up. I fiddled with the settings, cleared the cookies, restarted it, restarted my router, and even tried a factory reset to no avail. When I realised it was only music videos it was refusing to play, I turned to the YouTube support forum for help only to find it’s a general issue for everybody with YouTube and Apple TV.
I really hope the problem is resolved soon because YouTube on my television is one of the basic essentials that I need to make it through quarantine! I’m not a happy bunny. It also means I’ve had to find alternative ways to stream my video-in-progress to my television. Watching it on the bigger screen is part of my process because it’s easier to see what can be improved. At this point I would normally be uploading new versions of my fanvid privately to YouTube after each modification. I have found another way but it’s less convenient and, of course, the time I’ve spent trying to fix or workaround the issue has taken time away from making the video.
I’m heading off to bed now so I’ll just leave these here.
